Pakistan seeks to create the largest rice export market in Iran
Exclusive/ member of Rice Exporter Association Of Pakistan in response to the question of wheter Pakistan have had any plan regarding rice contract with Iran in the past or not, he said: as you know Pakistan and Iran share 9000 km long borders. Previously, after the sanctions there were mant dificulties to work with Iran. But in past two years i have seen higher demand from the buyers in Iran and we are expecting in the coming year Iran be the largest destination for Pakistan rice
"From Pakistan we are only exporting extra long grain rice which is kind of Basmati to Iran. Pakistan and India are only two countries in the world who are the growers of Basmati rice and we also export Super Basmati."he noted
According to the member of REAP from Pakistan officialy exports are carried out from Karachi borders and their main destination is Chabahr and Bandar Abbas. Other border that is used is Tafram borders.
"Except Iran, Pakistan"s largest destination is United Aran Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwair, Qatar and African countries that we export long grain rice to, like Kenya, Uganda and Ethiopia. In European countries, we are exporting brown rice to Uk. Brown rice and Basmati export is aroun 250000 tons every year." He further stated, referring to the export destinations of Pakistan"s rice.
