Export of 994 ships carrying Ukrainian agricultural products to 40 countries before Russias withdrawal from the black sea corridor agreement.
According to the Charge daffaires of Ukraine to Islamic Republic of Iran, planting and harvesting wheat like any other agricultural product in Ukraine has become more difficult and complicated under the influence of the war. Direct and indirect damages in the agricultural sector have reached 40 billion dollars in the past year.
"Among the other factors that have directly caused a decrease in the production and negative growth of agricultural products is the destruction of the Kakhovka Dam by Russia, which was considered the most important agricultural irrigation system in the south of Ukraine, and this caused 1.5 million hectares of Agricultural lands will be completely unusable, which will take approximately 5 to 7 years to restore the land". He added
According to Kravchenko, currently Ukrainian experts predict that this year agricultural production will decrease by 6% compared to last year and will decrease from 53.1 million tons in the previous year to 46-49.6 million tons
Before the start of the war, we had extensive cooperation in this area with various countries, including Iran, and even in the past years, Ukraine and Iran had good and mutual experiences with promising prospects in this field; but now, according to the existing conditions and after Russia"s withdrawal from the grain agreement and its non-renewal, some countries, including Turkey, China, Arab countries and the United Nations, have announced their support for the resumption of this agreement, while unfortunately so far No reaction has been shown in this case from Iran, so it is not possible to comment and review this matter at the moment. He said in connection with Ukraine"s cooperation with Iran in the field of extraterritorial cultivation.
Regarding the export of grain and other agricultural products of Ukraine, Kravchenko said: According to the available statistics, until the withdrawal of Russia from the grain agreement (July 17, 2023), Ukraine succeeded in the operation of the Black Sea Corridor and the implementation of the initiative of safe transportation of agricultural products through the Black Sea , 994 ships with a capacity of about 33 million tons of agricultural products have been exported to 40 countries, of which 137 ships with a capacity of 3.79 million tons of agricultural products including wheat, corn, barley, oilseeds, Soy and sunflower were exported to African countries (Libya - Algeria - Egypt - Kenya - Sudan - Tunisia - Djibouti, Ethiopia - Somalia - Morocco), Yemen and Afghanistan.
Expressing his hope for the replacement of the new route, Kravchenko said that according to the recent negotiations between Ukraine and Croatia, grain will be transported through the Croatian port
In conclusion, he pointed out that despite the continuous dangers and attacks during the days of war, Ukrainian farmers have used all their efforts to supply food and agricultural products and send them to the world markets.
However, according to analysts, since August 1st , due to the non-renewal of the grain agreement, grain exports from Ukraine have decreased by 40% this month compared to June.
