France to produce smallest soft wheat crop in 25 years
PARIS, FRANCE — Unfavorable weather took a toll on France’s soft wheat harvest. It is expected to be the lowest production output in 25 years at 29.22 million tonnes, according to Reuters citing Agritel
Michel Portier, director of Agritel, told Reuters, “Abundant autumn rainfall over a large part of the territory made sowing conditions extremely difficult or even impossible.” Agritel expects a decrease in area and yield for France’s 2020 wheat harvest. France’s 2020 soft wheat crop quality is anticipated to be low as well, Reuters said.
